Do I need an attorney to pursue my case against a defendant who was driving under the influence?

Transcript:

In Rhode Island, if you’ve been injured by a drunk driver, you don’t need to have an attorney represent you, just like you don’t need an attorney in any legal matter. However, it makes perfect sense to have an attorney represent you. That’s because while your case is going along, the other side, the insurance company is hiring lawyers and investigators to develop defenses against you, and you really don’t want to be up against that without having someone on your own side.
