What kinds of fees are associated with personal injury lawsuits?Return to Videos
In Rhode Island, in a personal injury lawsuit, the attorney usually represents the client on what’s called a contingency fee, which is a percentage of the amount of money the lawyer collects from the client and therefore is collected at the end of the case. For legal fees, the client does not have to pay any money up front. There are also case fees, such as for expert witnesses, depositions, court filings and things of that nature. Most lawyers also pay for those fees up front and collect them at the end of the case.
